  Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR10

  This 52-inch 1080p LCD from Sony, part of its flagship XBR series, is a feature-laden model that delivers excellent picture quality and a high price. The model, a 240Hz set, uses an edge LED backlight, and comes with a separate media control box that beams signals to the TV wirelessly. All of the input connections are done at the box. It's an Internet model with access to an extensive lineup of online content, including streaming movies from Amazon Video On Demand and soon, Netflix. It also has TV Guide's interactive program guide, which updates listing via the Internet.

   

  This Sony features excellent HD and standard-definition picture quality. It does an excellent job displaying the finest detail in top-quality HD content. Color accuracy was excellent. Contrast and brightness level was good, suitable for most rooms. This Sony XBR gives you excellent, smooth reproduction of scenes with subtly shaded light-to-dark areas, such as a sky during sunset. The KDL-52XBR10 has excellent film-mode operation (3:2 pulldown) effectively eliminated jagged edges on 1080i HD and 480i SD movie content.

   

  The KDL-52XBR10 uses edge-mounted LEDs rather than conventional lamps, which accounts for its super-slim profile of 2.5 inches, and its higher price. With Sony's Motionflow technology that quadruples the TV's frame rate using additional interpolated video frames, it very effectively reduces motion blur, just short of the best models. As is common with a Sony, sound is good and suitable for typical TV programming. And here's a pleasant surprise - the remote control is excellent -- all of its buttons are backlit so they're easy to see in the dark.

   

  Be ready to adjust color to suit you - and you can do that using individual RGB (red/green/blue) color controls in the advanced menu.  You may find that images look a bit grainy and the viewing angle is somewhat limited. 

   

  Thanks to the supplied BRAVIA 1080p wireless media box, you can place your XBR10 series on the wall and keep your video components where they belong - out of sight.
